Always an apple amongst apples

Description

Been working so much on Applejack, I realised I barely had her best companion! Winona!
The only time I made her was during my 24 hour Sweet Apple Acre session.

Initially planned this to be a more... light hearted piece, which sketches I've included in the WIP.
I think during sketching that made it even more heart breaking for me to go with this theme... but I... just... I hope the piece speaks for itself, but I'll have some words as well

I'd look at Winona as a true part of the Apple Family, to me she's best pet. Maybe also because of my view on Applejack of course :P
I guess sometimes we don't know how much we cared for what we had until we lose it.
She always seemed to smile, tail up, happy, loyal and to business when needed.
It kind of feels weird that this is my first real Winona I've done, but I'll certainly always remember her.

Kind of seemed to be a bit fast piece, but I focused a bit more on tone and feeling, so I felt like I didn't need to do a lot more, keeping it simple but effective.
Also, rain.

Edit: I think I've got the proper words to elaborate on this piece.
Even though it's a scene of loss, the good memories should outshine the darkness.
The times that will be remembered the longest.

I didn't want to make something outright depressing. Instead I wanted something sad that can also create a smile. Happy, the way she is.

Much like the other Critique above mine, I find this to be an extremely touching piece of work. The rain was not only spot on, but had required a certain amount of skill and time to have the correct effect of sadness on the viewer. Particularly like the rain hitting the statue effect. However, compared to the other review, I'd prefer the statue as it is, the slightly uneven base and lack of a plaque only adds to the idea that this was a simple design, much like the apples themselves. Now onto things I agree about with the other critic, the apple could either look fresher to signify a recent visit or it could look slightly rotten, to show that time has passed. AJ's hat upturned in front of the statue with a pool of rainwater in it would have added a spectacular emotional effect to this image in my humble opinion.

Now to end off, someone once told me pictures and images are a window into someone else's life and this no doubt fill that role, a look into a world without Winoa.

Hope this has been helpful and fair to you, do message me if there are points i have listed that you disagree with, or specifically left out in order to achieve an effect I may have overlooked, cheers.
