Sometimes... just... nevermind
I hope the picture tells most of the story
Was a rather quick one, but sometimes an idea is just as fast so you just need to try and capture it. And I hope I managed to do so and carry it over to you.
It was nice making snow for once, but I guess that's just part of exploring new things
Approx time: 1,7 hour
Edit: Wow, all the beautiful comments, it's heart warming You all make the best stories, All the feels, Thank you!
I'm sorry for my lack of replies, I'm at a loss of words for the beauty of all the comments.
Seeing how much snow has already covered her, she's obviously been in that position for a good while. And if she isn't dead from severe hypothermia already, she soon will be. Even if the figure in the background (presumably RD) reached Gilda while she was still alive, she'd still have to drag her out of the blizzard. She never had a chance, the poor girl.
This is a sad scenario indeed, and masterfully executed I might add. I love the way Gilda's talons are protruding from the snow, and her frozen tears make it that much more of an emotional piece. Well done!
But what really interests me is the figure in the distance. If I were allowed to speculate I'd say it was Dash. But you can't tell if she's walking away, or running over to help, or even just standing and watching.
I do like the idea of this being a bit more metaphorical than that, 'left out in the cold' and all that.
But it implies a happy, touching ending!!!
Gilda mourns Dash's "betrayal", and feels like she's alone out in the cold, with no friends left to help/comfort her. And in the background, one can see Dash, who has abandoned Gilda and is simply watching her suffer.
That's how I interpreted it, anyways. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Really cool picture.
Given what happened or maybe even didn't happen in her episode.
I liked to let the viewer interpret this picture on their own
makes you wonder what really happened to Gilda...
And like everyone else, I feel really sorry for Gilda, too. What happened? You have to wonder why she is the way she is, anyway; despite her being something of a jerk, I don't think she's fundamentally a bad person (And there must've been a reason for why Dashie used to be her friend.) Nonetheless, while she may have gotten away with rude behavior as a kid, it's obviously different as an adult, and I could see her finding herself a cast-out as a result; perhaps she never fit in too well anyway, what with being a gryphon and all, and perhaps she was driven away when her reputation was harmed beyond redemption.
One imagines that she may have found herself living in precarious conditions - exiled to the outskirts of civilized society, forced to live on the scraps; perhaps she eventually decided to seek a better life elsewhere, somewhere - anywhere. And perhaps she underestimated the difficulty, was overly confident in her abilities; and when conditions worsened, she lacked the experience to recognize the last chance to turn away. In the end, the storm trapped her.
One hopes that Dashie, or whoever it is in the background, will not be too late. But then, gryphons are a hardy bunch, aren't they? And with the help of the unicorns' magic, Zecora's brews, and the warmth of not just fires but also friendship, I hope she should be able to recover.
Wonderful awesome artwork...but why does everyone wanna do sad things to these ponies...and nonponies...you get the idea..
Beautiful image, though.
For may we all get together to help her through this moment of darkness, for there is still hope in the distance
This artwork is simply brilliant, and the amount of emotion it conveys is simply stunning!
I'm loving all the feels from the comments and reactions. It makes me happy to be allowed to share these emotions.
